AI Receptionist for Garages & MOT Centres

You can't answer the phone with your hands in an engine bay. AI Answerphone picks up for you, takes the car's make and model, what the customer needs and when, and sends you the enquiry the moment the call ends. MOT requests, repair questions and tyre sizes all arrive written down.

What your callers ring about

The calls you can't take while you're busy, and how AI Answerphone deals with each one.

MOT requests

Make and model, when the current MOT runs out, and whether it's a test or a retest, so you can slot it in.

Repairs and servicing

What's wrong or what service is due, the vehicle details and when they need it back.

Tyres

The tyre size from the sidewall, how many, and whether they want it fitted at the garage or mobile.

Remaps and DPF

Make, model, year and engine, what they're after, and any warning lights or limp mode.

The questions it asks your callers

When you sign up, you can start from a ready-made template for your trade. These are the departments and questions each one sets up. You can change, add or remove any of them in your portal.

MOT & Service Garage template

MOT Bookings

  • What make and model is the car?
  • When does your current MOT expire?
  • Is this a test or a retest?

Service & Repairs

  • What's the issue or service you need?
  • What make and model is the car?
  • When would you like to bring it in?

Tyre Fitters template

Tyre Sales & Fitting

  • What tyre size do you need? (e.g. 205/55 R16)
  • How many tyres?
  • Mobile fit or at the garage?

Roadside Puncture

  • Is this an emergency right now?
  • Can you briefly describe what's happening?
  • What's your postcode so we can check availability?

Remapping / ECU Tuning template

Remap Enquiries

  • What make, model and year is the vehicle?
  • What engine size is it?
  • What are you hoping to achieve — economy, power, or both?

DPF / EGR Solutions

  • What warning lights are showing?
  • Is the car in limp mode?
  • What's the vehicle make and model?

On every call it also asks why they're calling, takes their name and confirms their number. Each department's enquiries go to that department's contacts.

How it handles the awkward calls

"How much will it cost?"

The MOT & Service Garage template tells the AI never to quote a fixed repair price over the phone, because repairs need the car on a ramp. If you give it your MOT fee or guide service prices, it can quote those.

Tyre quotes need the size

The tyre template asks for the size printed on the sidewall, such as 205/55 R16, before anything else, so you can price the tyre when you call back.

Remap gains

The remapping template tells the AI to give only general ranges and say a specialist will confirm once the ECU has been read. It always takes the make, model, year and engine.

Breakdowns and punctures

Roadside callers are asked whether it's an emergency and where they are. That's noted in your alert so it stands out from routine bookings.

Which divert suits you

We suggest diverting when you don't answer, so the front desk still takes calls when someone's free. You can also add an out-of-hours greeting for evenings and Saturdays. See the BT landline and VoIP guides for workshop phone lines.

What it doesn't do

It doesn't put bookings in your diary or garage management system, check parts availability, or transfer calls to the workshop. It takes the booking request and vehicle details for you to confirm.

Questions

Questions from garages

It takes MOT booking requests with the make and model, the MOT expiry date and the days that suit the customer, and sends them to you to confirm. It doesn't put them straight into your diary.

No. The garage template tells it never to quote a fixed repair price over the phone. It can give any guide prices you add, such as your MOT fee.

Yes. There are templates for mobile mechanics, tyre fitters, body shops, auto electricians and more. Tyre enquiries ask whether the customer wants a mobile fit.

Yes, on the Growth and Pro plans. Each department has its own contacts, so MOT requests can go to the front desk and repair enquiries to the workshop.

A normal UK ring tone, then your greeting in the British voice you chose, for example "Thanks for calling Smith's Garage, how can I help?". Call our own line to hear it.
